Srinagar, February 23 (KNO) : Condemning arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and Mohammad Yaseen Malik, AIP President Er Rasheed Saturday appealed New Delhi to stop terrorizing Kashmiris and understand the fact that Kashmiris are not enemies of India but want simply political dispute to be resolved for a permanent peace in the entire sub-continent. In a statement issued to KNO, Er Rasheed said, “By trying to silence the genuine political voices New Delhi is only pushing Kashmiri’s to the wall and such harsh measures will add further anger and disappointment among masses. Jamaat-e-Islami has huge contributions in social and educational sectors besides advocating for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute.” He said it is unfortunate that rather trying to counter Kashmiri leadership with logics, arguments and facts New Delhi is silencing their voice. “While Prime Minister Narinder Modi today talked about owning Kashmiris but whatsoever is happening on the ground does not match his claims. He has to rise above politics and understand that if such harsh measures have yielded nothing in the past how can they be of any interest to New Delhi’s interests today,” he said. Er Rasheed appealed regional mainstream parties to get united and ask New Delhi that such suppression will yield nothing except adding to the chaos on the ground. He also appealed Mehbooba Mufti and Umar Abdullah to rise to the occasion and ask New Delhi what it has to offer to Kashmiri’s at the end of the day, except harassing them and muzzling their voice at the barrel of the gun.(KNO)
